AMERICAN MENTORS: Creating Learn-2-Earn Opportunities

If you’ve been keeping up with the President’s progress on his own My Brother’s Keeper Initiative, you may want to know that My Brother’s Keeper is now focused on six milestones.  We found these five:

1. Getting a Healthy Start and Entering School Ready to Learn
2. Reading at Grade Level by Third Grade
3. Graduating from High School Ready for College and Career
4. Successfully Entering the Workforce
5. Keeping Kids on Track and Giving Them Second Chances

Now, let's do some aptitude testing. Does the approach fit address the problem?  Roughly two-thirds of Black and one-third of Hispanic children live with only one parent.   Moreover, research suggests that a father's absence increases the risk of his Black child dropping out of school by 75 percent.  And even in the 21st Century information age, too many Americans still live in poverty.  If you have read the report to The President of the United States, we’d like to hear your thoughts on My Brother’s Keeper.  Tune in to AMERICAN MENTORS REPORT on YouthUSA Radio www.YouthUSA.net.
