WIOA: Preparing for Success

Wednesday, February 25th   |  1:00 PM EST

Workforce Boards are in many different stages of readiness when it comes to WIOA implementation. In NAWB's numerous conversations with the Department of Labor, we hear more and more that boards must not wait for the rulemaking to be completed to take steps to ready their operations and infrastructure for the requirements of the new Act.  The Training and Employment Guidance Letter 19-14 outlines a vision for the workforce system and initial implementation of WIOA, stating, "State and local workforce system leaders should take immediate action to achieve the vision of modernizing the workforce system and ensuring it operates as a comprehensive, integrated, and streamlined system that expands opportunities for all workers and businesses." But what should this immediate action be?

Byron Zuidema is the Employment and Training Administration's Deputy Asst Secretary, and is responsible for driving all technical assistance activities around the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.  On Wednesday, February 25th, Byron will join NAWB CEO and host Ron Painter for a Workforce Central interview on the Department's plans for technical assistance and guidance as workforce boards begin initial steps towards implementation. In addition, Byron will share insights on the actions boards should take now to develop their vision for their communities and regions, engage community partners at a higher level, and make sure their board infrastructure and operations are set up for success.  Don't miss this highly actionable discussion!
