• Grew up in small rural town of Seagoville, Texas
  • Graduated from High School 7th out of 70 with emphasis on sciences and an interest in history
• Attended Stephen F. Austin State University where graduated with BS in Biology and minor in History
  •  Joined Air Force
  • Until class date came up worked as tree worker in the Piney Woods of East Texas
  • Attended Officer Training School San Antonio, Texas
  • Selected for Rotary-Wing (helicopters) training
• Attended Flight Training at Ft. Wolters, Texas; Ft. Rucker, Alabama, and Hill Air Force Base, Utah
  • First assignment was an Air Force Rescue and Recovery squadron in Spokane, Washington state where we participated in regional civilian rescue efforts in multiple northwestern states
• At end of Vietnam War, left the Air Force and returned to Houston, Texas, to previous employer, Davey Tree Experts, to train for managing a district
  • Became a District Manager for North Texas Dallas/Ft. Worth region
• Four years later recalled to active duty Air Force
  • Flew VIP support in multiple western European nations and England
• Places lived:
  • Mineral Wells, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Fort Worth, Texas
  • Alabama, Utah, and Washington State
  • Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany before wall came down)
