Today we will be chatting with Mike Barber about his documentary A Past Denied The Invisible History of Slavery in Canada. Barber describes his work as deconstructng the institutionalized slavery during Canada's first 200 years and how this practice of slavery has been kept out of Canadian history textbooks and classrooms as well as Canada's collective social consciousness. It explores how a false sense of history—both taught in the classroom and repeated throughout our national historical narrative—impinges on both the present and future.
