This Thursday, November 1st at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk, we'll be going back into the archives for one of our favorite past episodes- a chat from earlier in 2012 with Seattle-based photographer Doug Yaple

Bio: Early in his career, Doug became friends with a couple of influential artists who helped shed light on the niche market referred to as craft or art photography which, in reality, is a nuanced from of product photography.

Examples of resulting images have been published in magazines (Ornament, Metalsmith, Lapidary Journal) as well as over forty books published by Schiffer Publishing, Brynmorgan Press, Lark Publishing and Interweave Press.

A few years back he began working directly with publishers on step-by-step instructional art process books.  Notable among these is Ronna Sarvas Weltman's elegant "Ancient Modern, Polymer Clay and Wire Jewelry."

Most recently he worked with Nancy Megan Corwin on her thorough instructional text titled: Chasing and Repousee: Methods Ancient and Modern publushed by Brymorgan Press and on metalsmith's bookshelves everywhere.

He also worked with Mary Lee Hu on her retrospective, "Knitted, Knotted, Twisted & Twined: the Jewelry of Mary Lee Hu", due this month and is published by the Bellevue Art Museum of Bellevue, WA.
