My Guest this Thursday, March 22nd at 3 p.m. PDT on MetalSmith BenchTalk is the always charming and quite dynamic Kate McKinnon of Metal Clay for Metal Arts fame.

Bio: In the mid-1960s, Kate McKinnon was born to wild dogs in the desert, and taught herself to use fire.

She is currently at work on her sixth book, this one about sewn beadwork, titled "Contemporary Geometric Beadwork." Previous books have been about jewelry making and how one might take a metalsmithing approach to fine silver metal clay. Kate will not rest until she has explored the fabrication of every fathomable facet of the art of adornment.

Kate lives and works in her home town of Tucson, Arizona, loves warm weather, nice people, good books.and is a frequent contributor to the magazines and journals in her field. She also teaches and speaks internationally.
