Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas speaks to the public-private partnership to spearhead the Smart Growth initiatives in Westchester County, NY intentioned to bring gigabit broadband, new business and innovation to Westchester’s four largest cities: Mt. Vernon, New Rochelle, White Plains and Yonkers. Hear Mayor Thomas from 10:30-11am. The four cities are to shortly to sign the Smart City ComPACT shortly noted to cost $750 million and operational from between 3 to 4 years. Who is the project manager and what is his expertise? What will the role of the four governments be, how will they divide their respective interest in the partnership, as equals or otherwise, and lastly, who is to benefit from this undertaking. Does government absorb half the costs, who is the private investor/partner?
