On the couch this week is the Award Winning Global Filmmaker, writer and lecturer. Art Hooker he is driven by the study of art, business and culture and how these disciplines work together to enhance society. Hooker's 15 year journey into the arts began almost by accident when as a sophomore in high school he was asked at the last minute to fill in for a sick speech and debate team member in a humorous impromptu speaking competition. He went on to take 3rd place honors in the tournament. That experience hooked Art into being a creative communicator for life. He then went on to star, write and direct his first award winning one man show "The King". The show was staged in Chicago, Memphis, Atlanta and Dallas. For several years Art, wrote, directed and produced independent theater and live events. Art earned his entry into the independent film world by producing the Super 35mm feature Borland, written and directed by the Nigerian born filmmaker Quam Odunsi. German cinematographer Rene Karp photographed the film. Borland later became an official selection of the Dallas AFI film festival in 2007. Art produced "Platonic Bomb" a film directed by M. Legend Brown and written by Eric Schwartz. The film was nominated for best picture at the TBF festival. Art frequently speaks and consults with various organizations about creativity, passion and innovation utilizing the principles he’s developed through his extensive travels and global research. Art is currently wrapping up the production of his first feature documentary about creativity and passion that spans the U.S, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. take 2
