In any relationship, listening is key to its success. The same is the case in dealing with people in the business world, especially our customers or potential customers. How many times have you been turned off by a fast talking sales person who has all the answers, but doesn't take the time to understand your questions? It happens over and over again. The picture that comes to mind is that used car sales person, who has the perfect automobile for you, or that telemarketer who has a script and can not deviate from it and be exposed for their true lack of knowledge of what it is they are selling. The real issue is that  in both cases, they have no idea whether or not you are truly interested in what they are presenting. Are they really trying to baffle you with "bullshit"? Many years ago I sat in a sales training workshop where we came up with a brainstorming idea that has stayed with me for many years... "If you want to sell, Ask don't tell!"
