Repeatedly the Scriptures turn man’s attention to nature to illustrate lessons about life and conduct. We will bring back to your notice these passages in Proverbs which teach men about wisdom from nature:
Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise, Which, having no chief, officer or ruler, Prepares her food in the summer, And gathers her provision in the harvest. How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? "A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest”. And your poverty will come in like a vagabond, And your need like an armed man (Proverbs 6:6-11)" Nature is God’s picture book for man, much like the picture books we give to children who are not yet able to read. The pictures tell the same story the Bible tells with words. Like the Bible, fallen men cannot and will not grasp the meaning and the message God communicates to them. The teaching from nature, like that of the Bible, is turned upside-down and inside-out, to man’s condemnation.
