Deuteronomy 18:15-22 makes it clear that a true prophet was always called by God, spoke for God, received authority from God, and his or her prophecy always came to pass. God's message sometimes came to a prophet in a vision and was delivered to the people by means of preaching, parables, or poetry. A prophet must be thoroughly persuaded that the messages were indeed from God. Prophets were often persecuted because of the bad news they delivered. Micaiah, who lived during the same period as Elijah, also confronted King Ahab with bad news that Ahab's reign as king of Israel was about to end with his death.

Heed God's Warnings - Some people believe that the thing they're being warned about won't happen if they don't believe it. King Ahab rode off to his death because he disregarded the Word of the Lord through His prophet, Micaiah. King Ahab and King Jehoshaphat conspired together to attack Ramoth-Gilead. But before waging war, the kings sought the Lord's advice through prophets. All 400 of King Ahab's false prophets told him the Lord would grant victory in battle. When Micaiah was called, at first he told Ahab what he wanted to hear. But when pushed, the prohet told Ahab that he would die in battle. Ahab didn't listen to God's warning and went anyway. The king died from an arrow wound and dogs licked the blood from his chariot.

The Lord Tells Us Things for Our Good but it won't be of any benefit if you don't act on the instruction the Lord gives.
