Samson. Judges 16:4-5,17,19-22,28-30 As a judge, Samson led Israel for 20 years. Although a Nazirite from birth, Samson's time as judge was marked by passion and fits of anger. But God chose Samson to begin delivering the Israelites from the Philistines. As Christians we know that our help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. If we begin to trust in our skills, talents, education, money, and strength, we are unwise. Samson forgot he needed God. Samson also let a longtime weakness and sin eventually overpower him. He loved women. He had a history of being with prostitutes. I sin is not immediately and completely dealt with, it will eventually bring death. Samson also broke a vow with God. As a Nazirite, he was not to cut his hair, eat or drink anything from grapes, or come in contact with a dead body. Once Samson broke his covenant with God, the Spirit of the Lord departed. Samson went to use his strength like so many times before, only to realize that his strength was gone.
