In this age of big data and analytics, one of the problems that we face is that our ability to communicate and understand statistical outcomes has not advanced as rapidly as our proficiency in handling data. There's plenty of data but not enough understanding. Yet, we can better understand complex matters when we can experience them.

Simulated experience lets us do just that, for example, showing us how our retirement investments will play out when we really need them. Robin Hogarth, an emeritus professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, along with fellow researcher Emre Soyer, explained how simulated experience can help us to make better use of big data analytics in a recent MIT Sloan Management Review article.

Now, Hogarth is joining the All Analytics community for the next episode of A2 Radio on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 2 pm (ET) to discuss how enterprise analytics teams can make use of simulated experience in delivering data to their clients, helping those clients make better decisions.

In this A2 Radio Show you will learn:

  • About some of the ways that simulated experience has been used in society and in enterprise environments.
  • The types of applications where simulated experience can bring benefits and better decision making to your organization.
  • Why we need to "experience" complex data rather than just analyzing it.
