Featuring Kathleen Furey, Education Director for GMO Free NY

New York State has joined with 37 other states now working to pass laws that require labeling of all GMO (genetically modified organisms) food products sold in the state. What are genetically modified organisms? How do they impact your health? Why has the U.S. government allowed these ingredients to become so pervasive in our food supply? Why is it vital to make labeling GMOs the law in New York? Kathleen Furey will discuss her role as Education Director for GMO Free NY: Right To Know Campaign, which is part of the National Coalitions to Label GMOs.  She explains that over 60 nations now either restrict or ban GMOs. An estimated 80% of foods found in US grocery stores contain GMOs. But, there are no U.S. laws that require labels to identify them, so we can decide whether or not to buy them.
