Kingdom of God ( Church )

What role does the church play in the Kingdom of God. The modern day church is filled with traditions, and now that the new hot topic is the Kingdom of God. We find many religous leaders teaching and using the term. But do the truly understand the Kingdom of God or is this just another hot topic that will burn in the hearts of the church and just be looked upon as another topic to preach on. Or will the church hear the true message and began to establish the Kingdom of God in the earth as it is in heaven?
