We are deep into a week of protesting all over the country – the voices of people of color and their allies are screaming, asking to be heard and acknowledged. People are protesting and rioting all across the nation. As this occurs, there are very different responses from local, regional and national leaders on how people of color should respond. On Wednesday’s episode of “The Race of Relations,” we’ll dig deep over the differences in those responses and interpretations of them as such. We will also do a recap of important developments in the George Floyd case, the Breanna Taylor case and the state and national responses to militarizing responses to protestors across the country, as well as myths about who and what is responding in this national climate of acknowledgement and angst.

There is so much to talk about - too much to unload in one sitting, but enough to dig deep into and dissect. This nation is hurting - the people of this nation are fed up with racial inequality and people of color losing their lives of nothing. Those uncomfortable conversations are happening and the true and genuine feelings of this whole nation are exposed and here for the world to see. There is an international response - countries across the world are acknowledging those exposed wounds that the United States tried hard to conceal. There have been so many hastags... so many needless deaths and the protesting has been civil. But this? This is different. There is no excuse - no way to gloss over the needless death of George Floyd. We are hurting and it's there for the world to see.

I hope you’ll join me in this in-depth conversation on the national responses to police brutality, excessive force, racial equity and more. Show starts at 8:00 PM – Lines open at 7:45 PM. Call in at 347-884-9299 to listen or chime in. Looking forward to this week’s episode of “The Race of Relations.” - Nikia
