The Myth of the Suffering Saviour

Sometimes we have get rid of the dead wood in order for new growth to occur.  Jesus reminds us that we cannot put new wine into old skins. He told us that if we do the old skins will burst and the wine will be lost.  He said we need new skins. He also reminded us that we should leave the dead to bury their dead.  We are to avoid the traditions of men that nullify the word of God.  In so many words Jesus was telling us that some things -- some remnants -- ghosts and goblins of the past are not worthy of survival and may even be detrimental to the establishment of the kingdom of God on earth.
