Jane Ard-Smith, recipient of the Women of Influence award, spends her days as a legal editor. But, her activism in the political arena encompasses serving as board chairwoman at Citizens Project, chairwoman of the Sierra Club (Pikes Peak Chapter), serving on the boards for the League of Women Voters, Peak Alliance for a Sustainable Future and The Foundation for Colorado Springs School District 11.

“Until recently I hadn’t seen myself as a leader. I thought of myself more as just a doer,” Jane told the Business Journal during her interview. The award for Women of Influence is peer-nominated; therefore, her community definitely recognizes her leadership and her ability to make a difference.

The Colorado Springs Business Journal recognizes 13 women annually at the Women of Influence event in Colorado Springs, CO. This year the presenting sponsor of the Legacy Award is Legacy Bank, Member FDIC
