Open Forum

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 was a big election year for this country. I believe that history will mark this day has the beginning of the second USA civil war. This will be a cold Civil War. Suspicion, demonization of each other will keep us from becoming the best we can be. I hope that the Democrats will use this opportunity to be part of the solution. Our form of government calls for checks and balances. I don’t believe our founding fathers intended for checks and balances to mean obstructionism. I believe the phrase is advise and consent. Oversight can only be accomplished by investigating the facts.

Oversight by Congress should be just that. For two years the Republican led Congress has sat on its hands. The economy is doing great, but wages remain stagnant and are slowly eaten away by runaway healthcare costs.

The healthcare issue in this country needs to be addressed. Tuesday night many voters said that healthcare was the number one concern. The first bipartisan effort should be healthcare reform and passing an infrastructure bill.
