Welcome Stephanie Nelson - Part 1

Stephanie is a professional singer, dancer and choreographer as well as the owner and Artistic Director of the Foothills School of Dance and Voice. Www.foothillsschoolofdance.org. She lives in Evergreen with her fiancé, Paul and beautiful 15-month old son, Rhys. She is honored and grateful to have this opportunity to share part of her story with like-minded women, who are also on a journey of self-discovery. Her journey really began around 2002 after a difficult 10 year struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. In the summer of 2000, she had what she likes to refer to as a Divine Intervention.

When Stephanie entered into recovery in 2002, she enrolled at the University of Mo-KC to finish her dance degree, which she had begun 8 years earlier. She’s always been a “showgirl” at heart and knew she needed to heed that call. She admits that there was a part of her that thought it was a little impractical to start dancing again at the age of 27, but fortunately she didn’t entertain that thought for very long and she finished her BFA in Dance Performance in the spring of 2003, moving to New York City shortly thereafter.  She went on to perform with opera companies and theaters across the country including the Metropolitan Opera, Seattle, Houston Grand and Central City Opera Companies.
