Mike Russell, Torrance Beach Fourth of July Fireworks

Our guest this morning is Mike Russell, owner of Pedone’s Pizzeria in Riviera Village

Mike is a life-long resident of the South Bay and serial entrepreneur. He originally met his great friend, Lou Pedone, while playing basketball.

With absolutely no restaurant experience, Mike partnered with Lou to open the fourth Pedone’s location in Riviera Village. Mike eventually bought out Lou and that super successful eatery has been open for 20 years now.

To honor the Pedone family, Mike has stepped up to sponsor the now defunct Fourth of July Torrance Beach Fireworks show that had been privately funded for years by the Briles family.

Palos Verdes residents, Rick and Carri Bender, set up a fundraising page last year, www.palosverdesfireworks.com, to continue the very popular holiday fireworks show. Unfortunately, they didn’t raise enough money to do the show this year. When Mike heard about it, he contacted Rick and offered to provide the funds.

So, on July 4, 2018, there will be a fireworks show, and this morning, we’ll get all the details and learn what folks can expect next year.?
