Lori trained as a journalist in New York City, where she started her own neighborhood newspaper at 22. She sold that for $1 and became a literary agent, where she sold the books by her former reporters. Lori sold more than 2,000 books in her 20 years as a literary agent, and found she was selling a lot of books about sex in both nonfiction and fiction. She re-examined the erotica market a few years ago, and realized it had matured from the spank-me-baby books and was now a rich and varied field dominated by women writers.
