TWU Radio welcomes Karin Edgett to the Show!

Edgett, a former advertising and creative guru, and Shahid Aslam, a NASA scientist, founded Sun Friend in 2011 to combat the epidemic of skin cancer, which affects one in five people in the U.S. Their idea won first place in the NASA Tech Briefs “Design The Future Contest” for consumer products category as well as the “most popular” vote.

With the SunFriend wearable  personal UV/Sun tracker, you can check the real-time UV Index of the sun. You can customize the SunFriend to your skin color and watch as LED’s light up to indicate a healthier amount of sun for the day while avoiding over exposure or skin damage.
