Kelly Overton of SyFy’s Van Helsing

Kelly Overton, who starred opposite Joe  Manganiello as one of the sexy werewolves on HBO’s “True Blood,” returns to the world of science fiction as the title character in SyFy’s new series, “Van Helsing,” which premieres on September 23rd .Vanessa Helsing is a direct descendent of the legendary vampire hunter and is resurrected to help mankind fight against the ruling vampire class. Among her powers is the unique ability to bite vampires to turn them back into humans.  The role calls for an enormous amount of physicality and Overton trained hard for the non-stop fighting sequences.

Van Helsing is set in the near future, where vampires have risen and taken control.  Vanessa Van Helsing is humanity's last hope, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires. Van Helsing comes from the producers of Fargoand Hell on Wheels. Acclaimed director/playwright Neil LaBute serves as showrunner.
