Good morning, today on The Meter, we will cover the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Abe was speaking at a campaign event when the shots rang out from apparently what is a homemade gun. Japan is well known for having a very low violent crime rate. Condolences came from all over the World. Former President Donald Trump had a good relationship with Abe and has indicated that he may attend the State funeral. When Joe Biden gave his sympathy to the Abe family a mention of gun control was also made in the shadow of the July 4th attack near Chicago that left 8 dead and more than 30 wounded. Is the entire World now in need of more restrictions on firearm ownership? This past Friday, the jobs report was released indicated a strong labor market adding 372K jobs and the unemployment rate held steady at 3 6%. Democrats immediately touted that the polices of the Biden administration are working. This is amidst surging inflation, record high gas prices, and shortage of everyday goods. Are Joe Biden's recovery plans effective? Also, the US Supreme Court says its taking up a case where State legislatures can appoint presidential electors in the event of any controversy in an election count. In 2020 Donald Trump claimed the election was stolen in key states but now critics are claiming that a state can submit their own electors to the electoral college. Is this a serious threat to American elections? Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call-in number is 347-308-8933. Your input is essential.
