Originally from Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights community, Kumandae grew up around gang warfare, having been caught in a life-threatening, street battle between the Crips and Bloods gangs.

The experience instantly prompted Kumande to explore different avenues to better himself, which included sports, college, and ultimately moving on to a successful career in music.
