Shawn Chavis founder of Bronze Magazine

Shawn will talk about why she started her online magazine. She will provide blogging tips for beginners and share strategies on how to promote a blog to the social networks. Shawn is a NYC resident and has both a Bachelors degree and an MBA in Marketing. Shawn spent a combination of six years in Executive Retail Management for both Macy’s and Ann Taylor. In addition, she has eight years of experience within the financial services industry having served in both retail and operational capacities. Shawn is a strong advocate for the empowerment of women, especially women of color. Out of concern and frustration regarding the negative images depicted of African-American women in mainstream media, she recently created Bronze Magazine, where she serves as editor-n-chief. Bronze is a weekly blog magazine that celebrates, and inspires the lifestyle of today’s Black woman through uplifting content. Shawn has a strong and continuous commitment towards pursuing different resources that will support her mission of bringing positive awareness to the images of African American women.
