The October 9th City Council meeting provided lots of fireworks that proved you can’t put worms back in the can.  Items such as overspending, the city manager and the auditor have proved to be far from resolved:

  • The City auditor appears to have a target on her back for simply doing her job. With claims of racism in the air – we don’t see the long awaiting auditor freedom to do her job anytime soon.  With accusations of racism in the air, let’s hope it does not prevent the public from ever knowing the “WHO”, in the overspending scandal.
  • Mayor Ted Brandvold reported that the City falsified documents and delayed notifying him of a Grand Jury looking  into the $16 million dollar purchasing scandal
  • Accusations that the city staffers falsified document regarding funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban development.
  • Kenoyer said the mayor made “severe allegations” against people who sit on the council dais, and the city needs to investigate the allegations made against the city manager. She said the over-spending is an old issue, and she questioned the mayor’s motives for discussing it Tuesday.

With hopes of a functional City Council dashed on the rocks, it seems we are going to be revising the “sins of the past’ all over again.  I guess the Council Retreat was much ado about nothing.
