Enterprise Resource Planning systems are large-scale, complicated (& expensive) systems that run an organization’s business functions. As no two ERP systems function the say, often, during the implementation of an ERP, stakeholders identify a number of areas where the new system may not perform in a manner consistent with the organization’s legacy systems, such as a Mainframe system or disjointed and disparate administrative software, which are the types of environments ERP systems replace.

The common approach to dealing with such perceived shortcomings is customize the new ERP, and this week we talk about why this is a bad idea and how to avoid making such customizations.
