Hopelessness and despair plagues many Native youth on reservations because they lack essential services and the means to be creative. Help is on the way. A new project specifically geared to Native youth is being launched on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Music will be a stepping stone to independence for the young people. Our special guest, Davidica Little Spotted Horse will share her vision that will give talented young people a chance not only to sing, learn to play instruments, create, write, and perform music; she wants them to learn all aspects of the business. Davitica Little Spotted Horse is Lakota and lives on the Pine Ridge Reservation. She is an artist, musician, song writer, performer, photographer and youth worker. Davitica, along with other musicians, artist, performers and youth workers, will mentor, support and motivate the young people as they learn to be self sufficient. This program will be a model for other Native reservation and communities to recreate.
