Suzy Manning, CEO of SUZYMANNING LLC and host of "Women Living Empowered Lives at Midlife" BlogTalk Radio interviews Phyllis Walker. A professional speaker and woman of resilience, Phyllis triumphed over domestic violence as a young married college student. She underwent eye surgery to correct rapid blindness, and turned her passion for photography into Hummingbird Studios. A percentage of profits from the sale of Phyllis’ Hummingbird Studios prints is allocated to her 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Esperanza! A Woman’s Hope, providing scholarships for job skills upgrade to Georgia’s survivors of domestic violence.
On behalf of her organization, she is a former recipient of the annual “Making a Difference for Women” award from Soroptimist International of Atlanta. Just this month, Phyllis was awarded a new Toyota Prius as part of the Toyota 100 Cars for Good program for organizations impacting the lives of individuals in their communities. Moving her world through art, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, Phyllis engages in motivational and inspirational speaking on topics encompassing “Resilience”, “Overcoming Adversity”, and “The Healing Power of Nature.”
