What can one say about Sister Lemonade. Well, she may be saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. (That's just how she is), but there is another side to her. Sister Lemonade is the alter ego of Minister Denise Watson-Smith. Before understanding who God called her to be, she went through many heartaches and pains, many due to her own disobedience. She went through many trials and tribulations and found her life turned upside down. When trouble came into her life, she felt all alone and cast out. Denise went through jail, house arrest, multiple surgeries, suicidal thoughts and fear of losing her family. Through many prayers, and learning how to lay on her face and cry out to the Lord she discovered how God took all of the pain that was in her life and gave her the ability to laugh through it. Not only could she laugh her way through, it became her ministry. Denise was asked to perform at a Women's Conference in 2007, apparently someone thought she had jokes. Denise agreed but she had no idea what she was going to do, nor who she would call herself. She wrote a letter to a friend of hers and was reminded of the verse, Romans 8:28, "All things work together for the good for them who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose." Denise became a licensed minister of the gospel April 29, 2007, but before she preached her initial sermon, God allowed her to give birth to Sister Lemonade. Sister Lemonade has been called to minister the gospel in her own way by letting others know that no matter what you go through, no matter what the situation, God can bring joy and laughter back into your hearts and your lives. God has given her the gift of laughter and a spirit of joy with the ability to share her story in a manner that no one else can. God definitely took a "lemon and made SISTER LEMONADE!"
