SpokenHeard with Jason Carney and Susan Dobbe Chase

Jason Carney is a performance poet from Dallas, Texas, who was honored as a National Legend of Slam Poetry in 2006 and 2007. He has appeared on several seasons of HBO's Def Poetry Jam and has been seen on the National Geographic Channel. Carney is a former skinhead who, in a rehabilitation center in his youth, had a life changing experience when he roomed with a gay man who was dying from AIDS. He now uses poetry to continue to reform himself and heal others. He now teaches creative writing workshops, diversity workshops and lectures at universities across the country.
