We have all seen people sleeping on the street on bus stop benches etc, but recently the face of the homeless has changed. Deb Foster is the Founder and Exec. Dir. of Bethlehem Huse located in Detroit, MI. Bethlehem House assists the Homeless Working Women in the area. We've been in existence since 2003. Our shelter/residence is located in an actual house. Where each woman has her own bedroom accented with her belongings. Which is very therapeutic after losing so much initially. We encourage the women to save money, clear their credit and offer a practical bible study. The residents can live at Bethlehem House for a period of 2 years. Which we feel is long enough to accomplish the stated goals. The face of homelesness has changed from non-working/substance abusers to working/non substance abuser with and without children. The age range was generally 50-60 years old, that age range is now lowered to 35 years old and older. For every (1) homeless woman, there are three (3) homeless men.
