Andrea McGee was born and raised in Cedar Rapids Iowa, just outside of Des Moines. As the only child, Andrea used her imagination to create stories through drawings which soon became written short stories. Her pastime during childhood was watching horror movies with her mother.

Andrea earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Television at Jacksonville University in 2012 and won the Award for Excellence in Screenwriting at Jacksonville University that same year. In 2014, Andrea moved to Atlanta to attend the prestigious school of Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design, where she used her video editing skills to make extra money. After a year, she transferred from the Atlanta campus to Savannah in order to obtain a degree in Dramatic Writing. Andrea received her Master of Fine Arts in Liberal Arts in June 2017.

2017 was a great year for Andrea and her feature screenplay, The Heebies, about two estranged brothers and a childhood friend who reunite to save their small-town from a horrific threat – creatures that emulate human hair and devour their victims from the inside out. The Heebies took home the award for Best Horror Feature screenplay at Shriekfest and has since placed and won a number of awards at other festivals. In later 2017, Andrea moved to Los Angeles and now works for a great company that cuts movie trailers.

Andrea is currently working on two feature screenplays, a psychological thriller and a ghost story called Small-town Legends. Small-town Legends takes place in the 60s and centers around a group of multicultural misfits during the height of racial tension in the United States.

There is one thing that Andrea loves more than video editing, writing and watching horror movies and TV shows… movie trailers.
