History does not merely belong to the realm of humankind.  Animals have also played major roles in the history of humanity.  Cats, for example have been viewed with both reverence (as with the ancient Egyptians), and with suspicion (during times when witchcraft accusations ran rampant).  And what about the donkey's special role during biblical times?
