There is a growing awareness of the mathematical impossibility of sustaining an economic model based on endless growth. Naomi Klein argued in her most recent book This Changes Everything that this is an inevitable result of the capitalist model. She points out that most reformers who want to get away from an economic system where regulation is only permitted by the regulated when it is to their benefit refuse to see that reform is not enough, because the problem is built into capitalism.

Rob Dietz, the former Executive Director of Center for the Advancement of a Steady State Economy (CASSE) has studied the problem of addressing limits on growth in depth, writing about it in his book Enough is Enough. He is currently working with Farmland LP, a company that acquires farmland and turns it into organic farms for organic farmers to manage without the cost of buying land, and that permits investors to make a profit from converting to an environmentally sustainable and economically sensible model of healthy food production.

This show will be rebroadcast on May 30 at 9 AM PST/ 12 PM EST on the Star Com Radio Network.

Take Back America for the People is an educational nonprofit whose mission is to explain the true costs of allowing corporate control of the US government.
