SAVING THE COMMONWEALTH WITH BETHANY WOODY AND JOEL GALLEGOS

Spurred by government challenges to their ownership of the land to serve the corporate interests of the backers of the Harper government, Native Americans in Canada launched an effort to unite tribes around the nation to stand together to protect the commons of Canada. The land, water and wildlife are threatened by the Tar Sands project and other extraction industries that benefit the few at the expense of the many.

Perhaps to the surprise of the organizers, the movement has spread throughout North America and then the world. Supporters realize that the protecting these precious natural resources is a cause that affects us all.
