The recent Israeli assault on Gaza has sparked a healthy debate about whether continued unconditional US support of Israeli actions is in the best interests of the US, Israel or Palestine.

One of the most important aspects of this closer look Americans are taking at Israel is  a long-overdo look at Zionism itself and whether it is possible to have a democracy in a Jewish state. The answer may determine whether peace is still possible in the Middle East and whether Israel itself can survive if it continues to isolate itself from world opinion.

On December 29 our guest was Rich Forer, former AIPAC member and author of Breakthrough: Transforming Fear into Compassion-A New Perspective on the Israel-Palestine Conflict. Forer, who has ultra-Orthodox family living in Israel, recently completed a trip to Gaza and the West Bank.
