PTSD has been characterized as an anxiety disorder with a physical basis by the APA since 1980. While DSM recognizes that it has a distinct psychological nature as well, few writings have characterized it as a "soul" wound. None have done so better than Dr Edward Tick, founder and Director of Soldier's Heart and author of War and the Soul.

On August 6 we explored the traditional functions of war, how these functions are not served by modern war and the consequences to veterans, their families and society as a whole.

Anyone who has served in combat or been touched by those who have knows that no one returns from war unchanged. It is up to us to help veterans find their way home and readjust to complete their transformation from soldier to warrior whose experiences add a valuable contribution to society.

Only those who have seen war understand its true horror. We must honor these men and women by listening to them when they counsel us to avoid war at all cost but that of our freedom. As the crackdown on our civil liberties in the name of "fighting terror" has shown, that is the only way that to survive as a free people.

This show will be rebroadcast on Saturday, August 11 at 10 AM CST on the Star Com Radio network.

Take Back America for the People is an educational nonprofit whose mission is to reveal to the American public the true costs of corporate control of the US government.
