On this episode, we’ll explore issues related to gender and sexuality with a focus on social issues, civil rights, and marriage equality. Our first guest will be Mr. Samuel Chu, Executive Director of California for Faith Equality and the California Faith for Equality Action Fund, a statewide network of over 6,000 congregations, organizations and faith leaders working to educate, support and mobilize California’s faith communities to promote equality for LGBT people. Mr. Chu will be followed by San Francisco-based couple John Lewis and Stuart Gaffney, the leaders of Marriage Equality USA and Asian Equality, who will share their personal story as being among the first same-sex couples married on the steps of San Francisco’s City Hall in 2004, and thereafter, as plaintiffs in the marriage lawsuit before the California Supreme Court. Our local spotlight is Ms. Maureen DeNieva San Jose native and Bay Area Grass Roots Community Organizer for Youth Development, Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention, she is an active young leader who supports gay rights, equality and a long time student leader. Her work to support young people and encourage a future generation of pro equality communities will be a vital contribution to this show.
