Guest: Carolyn “CJ” Jones

Dawn and Jennifer are excited to welcome Carolyn “CJ” Jones to the show today. Lured to the San Francisco Bay Area by dreams of ocean sailing, Carolyn lived aboard a sailboat in the late 90’s. Eventually, she evolved from boater to landlubber, married to single, nurse to author/photographer and finally from RV van living to homeowner. Carolyn traveled the Western States and Mexico for three years while photographing dozens of gates; she has hundreds of images from her journeys. In addition to gates, Carolyn photographs colored light through cut-glass. She won First Prize for her image Down the Straightaway from Guest’s Gallery. Her abstract work is published in Photo Workshop’s book, Photos That Inspire and Photo and Art’s Abstracts 2007: Volume Two. Her image Color Burst was chosen for the back cover of Abstracts 2007: Volume Two and was awarded the Curator’s Choice Award. Recent winner of two Honorable Mentions, Carolyn’s book, Opening the Gates of the Heart: A Journey of Healing, received one award in the spirituality genre from the New York 2010 Book Festival, and one in the photography/art category from the San Francisco 2010 Book Festival.
