Azeez Mustafa and his wife Fathiyyah are the first produce farmers in South Carolina to to become certified organic by Clemson University. They are both graduates of the first class of the Small Farmer Agricultural Leadership Institute from Southern University and A&M college System, Agricultural Research and extension center, Baton Rouge, L.A. 
Both born in Sumter County and raised in farming families. They were instrumental in starting Sumter Cooperative Farms-Organic farms, Ltd. The largest certified organic cooperative in South Carolina and Southern region that’s incorporated by the state of S.C. with the help and support of South Carolina State University 1890 and extension program.
 
Members of Carolina Farm Stewardship Association and was awarded 2006 farmer of the year for that organization. They are the only certified organic produce dry or (non-irrigation) farmer in the state of S.C. and southern region. They were instrumental in helping other farmers in S.C. and other states to become Certified organic farmers.
 
They are in a network of serious farmers, gardeners, producers, young and old who are trying to reverse some of the damages that modern day farming has done to the environment and to help in the reversal of some of the illnesses and sickness of the world with good food.
