Sankofa Fun Club's UNMute Radio with Margaret Young

From the sun-washed paradise Island of Jamaica comes
Margaret Young.

Gifted, lovely and talented are but a few of the words Critics use to describe this multicultural Singer, Dancer and Actress.

The International Theater Institute Best Actress Award recipient, has been performing all her life. At the tender age of nine Margaret started her professional career with the Jamaica Musical Theater Company.

She toured the region performing all the Broadway Standards in English, Spanish and French. However, it was the Bohemia Talent Contest in Kingston Jamaica that began her love affair with Reggae Music.

After winning the contest Margaret released her first single "Outside" which did reasonably well on the local charts,
and got the attention of Junior "One Blood" Reid. Junior teamed her with MC Rumble of Toronto Canada and out of that collaboration came the hit single "Safe," which rocketed to in Canada and England. This hit song fueled
a world tour.

Traveling to faraway places and singing Reggae Music has become the passion that drives Ms. Young.

This passion has led her to work with legends such as Black Uhuru, Wailing Souls, Lt. Stitchie and Beenieman.

Ms. Young is now residing in Los Angeles, California where she continues her career as the lead vocalist for the Kingston 13 Band.
