The shows we were watching for the Summer are gone and now some of the new Fall lineup has begun!
Last night on the OWN network the new and anticpated Queen Sugar came on with a big BOOM! The show was produced by
Ava DuVernay she was also the director of Selma and won the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, the Best of Director Prize for her film Middle of Nowhere. Queen Sugar is a powerful statement about family and loss. The book was written by Natalie Baszile based on a family in a New Orleans parish on a sugar farm. Queen Sugar is a two part premiere airing tonight at 10pm.
Atlanta, no not the movie with Clifford T.I. Harris but with actor and producer Donald Glover. Glover?...is that Danny Glover's son? I thought the same until I looked him up. He is an accompplished writer, producer, actor and rapper. His show Atlanta aired last night to mixed reviews! Many loved the show were others were unimpressed. Atlanta is about Papper Boi aka Alfred Miles who's and up and coming rapper trying to understand the line between real life and street life. Donald Glover plays Earn who is Alfred's cousin and now manager. Then there is Darius who is apart of Paper Boi's entourage and his right hand man. Join Max and Sasha as we discuss these shows and the complex roles of many of the characters! Should be fun! So call in tonight at 11:00pm with your honest opinions at (929)477- 2384 and let us know what you think of Queen Sugar and give us your feedback about Atlanta and if you think it's a hit or a miss!!
