There's so much to say about this uniquely talented Saxophonist. Dee Lucas has been working HARD since the 90's, learning/listening/honoring and honing his Gift. A sideman to a local band in Atlanta, the work that was recorded with those musicians created a HUNGER in him to plow forward with his OWN sound. So he formed his own trio in 1999. New Year's Eve. Sounds like a Prince song, right? And that Legend would have dug Dee a LOT.

Skip ahead a few years and that business sense was kicking into gear in a BIG way. Dee developed a new label: Mo Better Recordings. Around the same time, the other side of his brain created music to fill a debut solo: "Remembrance." Several more carefully planned albums followed - "Something to Ride" made the Top 10. "Standing Room Only" in 2010 featured the first appearance from Grammy winning producer, Phil Davis.

Our guest contnued to push the envelope regarding his sound and brand. He is razor focused on both. Before many, Dee was aware of his desire to blend Contemporary Jazz with the sounds of Atlanta Soul. A LOT of other artists became aware of his style - and he received attention from high profile Jazz greats. Including Nnenna Freelon, Michael Franks and the late, great Hugh Masekela. Dee OPENED for them. That says a lot.

The reason for our visit: "The Time Is Now." Poppin' fresh and ready to keep you in a pleasurable ZONE, this album welcomes artists that are TOO happy to partner with Dee. George Freeman, Darryl Williams, Blake Aaron and David P. Stevens. Success is going to keep coming to Dee because he's passionate about the music that he creates and plays. It's contagious. And we NEED that music NOW! We'll hear three tracks on 9/22/20 - and the show that day will reflect the vibe that our guest gives us freely. It's ALL good. You'll hear it :)
