Sarah Clanton’s folk-rock-meets-speakeasy sound is a celebration of the unexpected. The classically trained singer-cellist-songwriter strums, bows, picks, and taps her instrument through heartbreak and vengeance on songs that grab you by the collar and refuse to let go. Her vocals can go from moonlit night to house on fire on a dime, with a tone that blends smoke with sunlight and lands somewhere between Nina Simone and Gillian Welch.
After graduating from Furman University in 2007, the Nashville-based singer hit the road with artists like The David Mayfield Parade, Edwin McCain, and Richard Leigh, among others. Her hair-tossing, quirky, electric performances - an exercise in musical abandon - quickly became audience favorites.  A self-titled EP released in 2015 included “Tequila,” an original song co-written by Clanton, Tom Bettencourt, and Richard Leigh, which made the Nashville Songwriters Association International Top 40 in January 2016.
Recently signed by Nashville newcomers Torque Entertainment, Clanton is busy working away on a debut album, co-writing with industry regulars, touring, and crafting a new incarnation of her honey-and-thunder sound.
