With all the scrutiny placed on Peyton Manning this year, he could have the last laugh. Battling through injuries and inconsistent play, Manning will become the oldest quarterback to start a Super Bowl. He breaks the record that was set by his boss, John Elway, who was 38 years old when he started. Cam Newton's spectacular season will end in San Francisco. Newton has rallied the Carolina Panthers to represent the NFC, in Super Bowl 50.

The New England Patriots were playing in their fifth straight AFC Championship game. With a win, they would have been able to defend their Super Bowl title. Stephen Gostkowski is one of the most reliable kickers, but missed an extra point that forced the Patriots to go for two points. Tom Brady has his passed batted and intercepted in the end zone, ending their quest for Super Bowl 50. The Broncos pressured Brady all day, and made the pocket uncomfortable.

Cam Newton silenced anyone who didn't think he should be the MVP. He contributed two touchdown passes and rushed for two more. The Panthers had given up big leads in prior games, but not on Sunday. After a 17-0 first quarter lead, they continued to dominate the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers intercepted Carson Palmer four times and returned one for a touchdown.
