At the time I produce this show, Hurricane Sandy will be reeking havoc on the eastern US seaboard. Already the media is covering the event and giving their best play by play on location in several states. But what happens when the storm is over? The Building Industry comes in to re-build broken homes and businesses, infrastructure and dreams. But my experience tells me that when a storm is over, you won't hear too much about the rebuilding process. Why? Because journalists don't build houses. And most attempts to cover a devastated area falls short of the expected story simply because of building inexperience. In other words, they simply don't know how. Experienced builders hang their heads in sorrow for the lack of   information given on a typical television broadcast when coverage can be much more than the status quo. Not here! We have gone to devastated areas and told the story on camera (You Tube) telling the viewer the layout of the destruction, the floor plan of the homes involved, even to the identifying of household items lost. Building products and their protective or non-protective properties, defensible space. The wild land urban interface, codes, etc. Bottom line: When Sandy fulfills her fury and leaves a wake of destruction, it will be the builder who ends the story. For that is the only closure hurting families will understand. The American resilience to pick up the pieces and carry on!
