Are you and your son savvy about gang violence? Do you think that you don't have to worry about gang violence? According to my guest, Arthur Art Powell, "Schools are havens for gang activity". Join Arthur Powell as he shares his story and discusses how you can protect and help your son be safe from gang violence.
Arthur has first-hand knowledge of youth gang violence. He became exposed to the criminal elements of the streets at the early age of 13. By age 15, he was involved with neighborhood cliques, which later became recognized as “gangs”. When Arthur (street name “Art”) was 19 he met a drug dealer who took him under his wing and gave him power to terrify anyone who was against their family (gang), which was called “I Refuse Posse”. From the years of 1988-1992, I Refuse Posse reigned terror on the streets of Atlanta. Arthur was a major contributor to much of the gang violence that took place in Atlanta. In 1993, his criminal activity finally sent him to prison for 11 years and 6 months.
